1) High touch more important than high tech: telephone if necessary if a student is in crisis.

2) Establish sound presence.

3) Use technology intentionally.

4) Use external resources.

5) Make expectations explicit.

6) Include fun, playfulness, and the unexpected.

7) Log in regularly.

8) Personal and regular feedback.
